Garrett Gowen- Candidate for Student Trustee
Garrett Gowen is a senior History and Political Science major, and a future graduate student at UMass Amherst in Higher Education.
As a freshman, he served as Webster-Dickinson House Council President and as an SGA Senator. The next year, he planned the highly successful annual Bowl Weekend as part of his work as Orchard Hill Area Governor. As a junior, he served as a Senator from Orchard Hill and Chair of the Finance Committee, where he oversaw a fund to provide RSOs with emergency funding, ensuring the success of their events in spite of unavoidable circumstances. He is currently the first Vice President of the SGA. As Vice President, Garrett has worked to help members of the Cabinet and Senate on their own projects in his role as the internal leader of the SGA. He has also spearheaded his own projects including helping to facilitate the very successful SGA Day of Service in the fall, representing students to Residential Life on future of the Peer Mentor program, and chairing the Agency Review Council where he has been working to strengthen student agencies (such as the Center for Student Business, UVC-19, Student Legal Services, and many others) and ensure their future on this campus.
Garrett was also a Peer Mentor in Webster Hall, where he assisted first-year students in transitioning to life in college.
He is an avid Meryl Streep fan, and enjoys classic SpongeBob episodes.
